INMO Lagoon |
Overview |
- impenetrable by Nautilus or mini-sub from the ocean
side due to the reef - the lagoon gets its exchange of tidal water through many small
tunnels and high tide over the top of the reef (but not enough
clearance for the mini-sub Dolphins) - shallow beach on one side and sheer drop
off on the other side next to the cliff rift - the drop off is where the
Nemo's bunker complex meets the lagoon in
huge plate glass windows

- the classic protected tropical cove as only the
natural engineering of the tropical reef can produce

Detail |
- if swim out of sub to penetrate the reef from
the ocean side then can reach INMO island - then will see 2 familiar sub locks like the one
on the Nautilus for the mini-sub - as the only entrance other than a glass tunnel that
later proves to be inaccessible/damaged - reef doesn’t get low enough on high tide
for the min-sub Dolphin to get through - clues to the need to get sub into inner reef
somehow
- swimming is depth limited by sound effect of
breath holding and then swimmer loses avatar control as avatar
automatically floats back up to surface - this gives motivation to
get mini-sub Dolphins into the lagoon by inland route
- have a sunken flooded broken mini-sub just like
small sub in the inner reef ( this gives rational to the INMO island and its sub connects)
- need cool statues half in and out of water with
tides - such as a woman and man arching back to touch hands in a bridge so most of the
torso from waist up is horizontal and almost all above water - symbolic
- far
off the themes note: underwater light show at night in reef laser is
very cool diffused in water - could use INMO island as a giant
screen

Overview |
- INMO Island is a structure built half way up the
reef wall
- only penetrated by getting a mini-sub into the
lagoon and into the sub locks of INMO island - it is completely underwater at all times
except low tide - huge rusty metal structure attached to the reef - could explore
exterior somewhat
by swimming
- lots of laboratories and experimenting - metallurgy
etc.

Theme |
- the INMO island complex celebrates science
and is full of art/scientific applications
- science - the structure and purpose should be all
about the Nemo view of technology and knowledge as the key to saving humanity from its
self - artistically in contrast with the bunker complex
which is sparse except for the lagoon window
- INMO island is a man-made complex attached to the reef on the lagoon
side
- INMO island is an overture to OMNI magazine - a
capturing of different places and times and mind spaces - is just a developer name
- lots of cool interactive gadgets - scientific
instruments actually showing some scientific principles

- sub locks are not the normal modern linking but a
more dramatic entrance into a hollow from underneath that closes up and then the water is evacuated by
pumps which are audible
- a piece of art that does random transformations in
dream-shapes - some where in the INMO complex - showing conflict? Emotion etc. - for pure
art have a Nemo water sculpture with bubbles going inside it - see through and has colored
lights from underneath the participant can control - so the light going through the
statues plays on the surrounding wall/structure - a piece that transforms on its own from
dolphin to sea-horse to octopus to angel fish, etc. from out of a pool of water in an
upside down half sphere - maybe between the transformations the water goes to full sphere
- frozen gallery of
extinct species in INMO island could be mysterious
- evidence of old netting on the INMO island - was it
for restricting dolphins - the dream creature - world in and out of balance - so whole
island hints at the captivity that Nemo supposedly vanquished from the very same island
- someday the physics of 3D engines will be so real...
the water streams off the top of the island as the tide drops
- a
chance to have labs that actually teach - such as mockups of the sun,
moon and earth to teach how we see the different phases of the moon
as seen from earth - if it is interactive and pretty - they will
come - the participant could be sucked into the scale of the models
and put on the surface of mockup earth and through faster motion of
the mockup see how all related - maybe this could also be used to
change seasons in the island environment
- could
have a planisphere manipulated by the participant to
change the seasons of Nemo's Mind for that participant - it would be
cool if all could walk around in their own season, weather and time
of day - catches that all in the mind thing
- only way to
walk on surface of lagoon is through equipment from INMO island
